Book Review | Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1) by Tricia Levenseller

“I am me because I choose to be me. I am what I want. Some people say you have to find yourself. Not I. I believe we create ourselves to be what we want.”

Daughter of the Pirate King
(Daughter of the Pirate King #1)

There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

I dreaded reading this. Reason? I've read some other pirate themed books that bored me to hell. I think I've had this book for more than 6 months buried under my TBR pile. Whenever it was next to read I found more books to pile on top of it again. haha. Boy was I so wrong.

*Spoiler Alert!*

I ship Alosa and Riden. There I said it. I hate insta-romance and damn these two gave me the romance I wanted. Alosa is the MC, the daughter of the pirate king. She was kidnapped by the pirate sons of Lord Jeskor - Draxen and Riden, and held her for ransom to her father.

The book had bad-ass action, and I could literally imagine the pirates and Alosa herself with the flaming red hair. There was also conspiracies upon conspiracies - Alosa was a pirate of her own ship and she staged the kidnapping without the kidnappers realizing they were just used. Ultimate goal is to get 1/3rd of the map that as passed down in Lord Jeskors family. All the antics of the characters were awesome. The drunken pirates, stealing gold, Alosa being such a girl but a kick-ass pirate captain at the same time, the loyalty between brothers, and the underlying theme of the sirens.

I didn't expect Alosa's love interest would be the first mate of a rival pirate ship. I did love the fact that she fought the attraction every step of the way. That's why I ship Alosa and Riden.

I need the next book like now!  It doesn't come out until February 2018....Ugh! Why do I keep torturing myself? Because I love to read, that's why. So yes please do get a copy of this book and read it. Very much recommended.
