Mini Book Reviews | Netgalley Books of the Week

I'm seriously trying sooooo hard to not request any more books from Netgalley. But my resolve is weak, I have made a few new requests since I finished reading the last galley I got there the other day. Woe is me.

The Revolution of Jack Frost
by K.M. Robinson
Expected publication: November 6th 2018 by Bleeding Ink Publishing
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

No one inside the snow globe knows that Morozoko Industries is controlling their weather, testing them to form a stronger race that can survive the fall out from the bombs being dropped in the outside world—all they know is that they must survive the harsh Winter that lasts a month and use the few days of Spring, Summer, and Fall to gather enough supplies to survive.

When the seasons start shifting, Genesis and her boyfriend, Jack, know something is going on. As their team begins to find technology that they don’t have access to inside their snow globe of a world, it begins to look more and more like one of their own is working against them.

Genesis soon discovers Morozoko Industries is to blame, but when a foreign enemy tries to destroy their weather program to make sure their destructive life-altering bombs succeed in destroying the outside world, their only chance is to shut down the machine that is spinning out of control and save the lives of everyone inside the bunker--at any cost. Review: This book had, honestly, a lot of promise. Take away the unnecessary teen romance and it would have made more room for better plot development. I actually liked the parts where the teens were discovering what is happening around them especially when Genesis discovered they were actually inside a bunker where the weather is changed to see how humans would adapt to it. The rest of the book was just dull. I do want to know more about what happens to hem though that's why I gave it a 3 star rating.

The Eternal
by Bianca Hunter
Published July 14th 2018
Rating: ⭐⭐

When seventeen-year-old Evelyn lost her family to a tragic car accident she is sent to live with her estranged aunt in the isolated town of Greyhaven, Scotland. But something isn’t right about the town. The people are all strikingly beautiful, with icy-blue eyes and perfect skin. After meeting the beautiful, but ruthless and taciturn Blake Greyson, Evelyn wants nothing more than to leave and never come back.

But when her dreams become haunted by a dead woman, Evelyn is compelled to find out why. Her inquiries only lead to a deeper mystery and revelations about the town and the people in it too strange to comprehend. When tragedy strikes again, Evelyn learns the truth of what is really going on and that she is inextricably tied to Blake Greyson. Evelyn is drawn to the boy who seems to be at the centre of the dark secret, but the closer she gets, the more dangerous their lives become.

This paranormal fantasy strikes the perfect balance between romance, intrigue, and suspense. [2]

Review: This book is like one of those classic teen vampire stories that were a rage back in the day **cough*twilight*cough**. Except they don't suck blood. They did get the irritating female protagonist down to pat. There are a lot of inconsistencies in the story like continuation, the characters getting mixed up, and there were some grammatical and spelling errors too. I thought they would at least finish the story in one book but it looks like they wanted more so of course it ended in a cliffhanger. I'm not sure I want to pick up the next books.

I had to DNF the 3rd book because it was actually book 2 in the series and I didn't have a copy of the 1st book. Maybe I should put myself on a Netgalley Request Ban. The only question is, can I actually do it?
