Book Review | Forever Ella by V.B. Marlowe

Forever Ella
(The Everly Girls #2)
by V.B. Marlowe

Ella’s life couldn’t be anything further from a fairytale. She wasn’t the daughter of a rich man, but a servant in Snow White’s palace. Those glass slippers you’ve heard so much about? They actually exist. However, they don’t lead Ella to any dreamy prince—they’re her greatest weapon.

After being dealt curse after curse, Ella is given the chance to start over and begin a new life. It’s nothing fancy. She works in a book store and lives in a one-room apartment with the love of her life, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. After enduring the ups and downs of the palace, the simple life is a breeze. Unfortunately, a coven of witches is determined to make her pay for her father’s participation in a witch hunt that almost wiped them out. Ella is given a week to use her glass slippers to kill a girl named Scarlett. If she doesn’t complete this unspeakable task, she’ll lose everything she loves.

I was prepared to like Ella. She's suppose to be this kind girl who finds herself being treated unkindly and made into a servant by her family. Well, this Ella I loved to hate. All she did was whine from the start. She hated snow at first because she was a princess and just discarded stuff on a whim, then she changed her mind when the King asked her to be Snow's playmate. It goes through a few more cycles of hating and not hating until she is cursed by the queen and then of course 200 yrs pass by. Ella is still poor but and she still likes pretty things, she works in a bookstore to make ends meet but makes friends with 2 girls who obviously has money. All this she kinda still blames on Snow a little even if she did say in the book that she knew it was the Queen who was behind all the bad things because she was a witch. Now she needs to get rid of Scarlet (Red Riding Hood) to break her curse before all the antidotes are gone.

I didn't want to be biased because I liked Snow in the 1st book in this series. And like I said in the beginning - I was prepared to like Ella. Am I suddenly picking suckish books all of a sudden? Or do I need to give this a chance since it is a series and Ella's story in't done yet? Arg!

I'm giving this rating just because Ella's character is such a social climber and no matter how nice she is she can't shake it off.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
