Book Review | Daughter of the Siren Queen (Daughter of the Pirate King #2) by Tricia Levenseller

“I may not have been born in the sea, but I was born to rule it.
I am the daughter of the siren queen.”

Daughter of the Siren Queen
(Daughter of the Pirate King #2)
by Tricia Levenseller

Alosa's mission is finally complete. Not only has she recovered all three pieces of the map to a legendary hidden treasure, but the pirates who originally took her captive are now prisoners on her ship. Still unfairly attractive and unexpectedly loyal, first mate Riden is a constant distraction, but now he's under her orders. And she takes great comfort in knowing that the villainous Vordan will soon be facing her father's justice.

When Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared Pirate King. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first . . . after all, she is the daughter of the Siren Queen.

To think I almost did not read the first book because I have never read a pirate book that I absolutely loved. Sure I've read Passenger and Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken, it had pirate elements but not as much as this. I loved The Daughter of the Pirate King so much that I knew I had to be patient while waiting for the 2nd book to come out.

I had high expectations left over from the 1st book and I was not disappointed.  Alosa might just be one of my favorite heroines ever. She's still fearless, swashbuckling, loving, a siren, and a pirate. She is not your typical princess. I loved the first twist when Alosa found her mother and then at their adventures in looking for Isla deCanta.

We see more of the crew of the Ava-Lee and how then interact with Alosa as a captain. She drives her crew hard but she love them just as much. They know their captain well and trust her despite all the dangers they knew they were going to face on their adventure.

We are also treated to the tension between Alosa and Riden, both hard headed but head over heels in love with each other (it's not insta-love!). I love the parts where they show their vulnerable side and it helps them realize (especially Alosa) that they need each other.

This book (the duology!) is simply amazing and is a definite must read this 2018. I can't wait for the author to write more books.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
(This is actually 4.5 stars, I just don't have a half rating)
