The GUILTY READER Book Tag

I'm a book blogger, I like book tags, and I have a few of them I haven't done yet. I don't really tag other bloggers anymore but in case you want to do this tag, please feel free to do so. I found this tag at Adventures of a Bookish Girl

HAVE YOU EVER REGIFTED A BOOK YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

I have regifted books I've bought, especially ones I've purchased multiple times (version?),  but not ones that were given to me. I'm a book hoarder by nature and I tend to hide my books. Heck, I don't even like lending my books (not anymore anyways) much less regift them.

HAVE YOU EVER SAID YOU’VE READ A BOOK WHEN YOU HAVEN’T?

To a degree. I read this certain smut book up to chapter 4 and had to just stop because the horrendous word  building and grammar was just burning away my brain cells. I've told people I've read it and hated every minute of it. Can't say I've read the entire book but I gave it a chance and it was just bad from page 1.

HAVE YOU EVER BORROWED A BOOK AND NOT RETURNED IT?

Yes. It was a library book (I can't remember what about) from our school library in high school. As far as I know it's still in the boxes of books from the last time we moved (18 years ago). I hope none of my old teachers see this.

HAVE YOU EVER READ A SERIES OUT OF ORDER?

Nope. I don't like getting confused as to what happened with the story. I make sure to start a series on the first book. Not unless the books that are part of a series can stand alone then I may have read some books without reading the others that came before it. I even started The Chronicles of Narnia from The Magicians Nephew.

HAVE YOU EVER SPOILED A BOOK FOR SOMEONE

Oh haha Yes! I love spoiling books for someone especially the ones who aren't as obsessed with reading as I am. I love seeing their baffled faces when I tell them what happens and they have no idea what I'm talking about because the only version of the book they know if the movie.

HAVE YOU EVER DOG EARED A BOOK?

Depends on the condition of the book when I got it. I have purchased second hand books that look well loved, I might dog ear them if I can't find any random paper I can use as a bookmark. Books I've bought new, I will never dog ear.

HAVE YOU EVER TOLD SOMEONE YOU DON’T OWN A BOOK WHEN YOU DO?

Yes. Going back to my hoarding tendencies and the refusal to lend to anyone I just tell people I don't have the book. I've lost a couple of books over the years and it just isn't worth the heartache to lend them out anymore.

HAVE YOU EVER TOLD SOMEONE YOU HAVEN’T READ A BOOK WHEN YOU HAVE?

Nope. I'm pretty transparent with the types of books I like to read so if you really know me you wouldn't have to ask if I've read a book. I don't see the point in telling someone I haven't read a book that I actually already have.

HAVE YOU EVER SKIPPED A CHAPTER OR A SECTION OF A BOOK?

Yes I have. There are some books out there that spend too much time describing the scenery or what the character is doing that I tend to skip paragraphs just to get to the action. If I've read the same sentence or paragraph for the past 30 min I skim it and just go ahead with the next paragraph.

HAVE YOU EVER BAD MOUTHED A BOOK YOU ACTUALLY LIKED?

No. I like what I like. I won't bad mouth a book that I liked just because someone else didn't like it. On some reviews that I do I can say what I didn't like about the writing or the characters but I will still mention that I liked it.

Are you guilty of any of these questions just like me? I'd like to hear your story.

    1. I remember some old novels back in Uni. English is a 2nd language here in my country but It's almost unheard of to actually study English Lit. Talk about Uncle Toms cabin or some of those novels written in the late 1800's or early 1900's, those bored me so much but I had to say I've read them even if I cheated and used Sparknotes instead. hihi

  2. Hehehe I love that about lending your books. I know I am not a fan of sharing out my books either. I also have told people I don't own books when I do, whoops :P I also don't dog ear books and I do try to keep them in a good condition. But yeah, if I have got it second hand and it's already a bit beat up I will be less careful with them although I have yet to dog ear a book yet. It's good that you like what you like and are very clear about that. No need to pretend to change your opinions to please whoever you're with. I agree!
